Hi Greenie! Wow! The year is almost at an end, and time for reflections, resolutions, and rebirths are coming fast. But along with the traditions of New Years resolutions, also comes the tradition of ringing in the new year with a kiss. Soft, plump and kissable lips are a must. We don’t want these Cinderella lips turning into pumpkins when the clock strikes midnight. So, let’s make sure your lips are primed, prepped and puckered. Below are some suggestions and favorite product recommendations to get the perfect set of lips.

Exfoliate

Just like any other part of your body, your lips are another area that need to be exfoliated. When dead skin piles up and lips become chapped and peely, exfoliating helps to slough all that away. Removing the dead skin allows chapstick and moisturizers to absorb into the skin and creates a better pallet for lipstick application.
DIY Sugar Lip Scrub: Creating your own lip scrub is probably about one of the easiest DIY recipes you can make. If you wanted to, you can literally just use 2 ingredients. A tablespoon of oil, like olive oil or coconut oil, to a tablespoon of sugar, cane sugar or brown sugar. But if you want to get creative, you can experiment using a combination of different scrubs and oils. I found this diagram from BeautyPoint Of View that gives some suggestions of how you can be creative and experiment with different ingredients. She recommends adding a teaspoon of each ingredient and adjusting the “taste” to your liking.

Product Recommendation:
Handmade Heroe’s Matcha Latte Lip Scrub This lip scrub is 100% natural, toxin free, and vegan. Made with premium grade Japanese Matcha, it’s like sipping your perfect cup of Matcha. And let me tell you, I love me some Matcha! The scrub has a medium exfoliation texture from coconut and sugar. A combination of avocado, jojoba, and sweet almond oils help to repair, moisturize and give a nice healthy glow to your lips.

Lip Mask

I’m going to be honest here, I have never used a lip mask before. I mean if I’m being real honest, not till recently have I been interested in a lip care regimen. But I would find myself during the day getting so irritated with my dry, chapped lips that I would start to pick at them and bite the hanging skin. Am I painting a pretty picture here? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Nothing pretty about sore bleeding lips. The first time I exfoliated I was in shock with how soft my lips felt. And the first time I exfoliated and applied a lip mask…wow! A whole notha’ level, let me tell you!
DIY Honey Lip Mask: This recipe is as easy as it gets! Just apply raw honey to your lips for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Raw honey is known to be healthier than pasteurized honey because it contains all the natural nutrients, enzymes and antioxidants that normally would get killed off during pasteurization (1). Honey is known to be a great tool for moisturizing, and anti-aging. Product Recommendation:
Henne Organics’ Lip Mask Apply Henne’s therapeutic lip mask to your lips for 15-30 minutes to see the healing results of the sea buckthorn and evening primrose. Other ingredients like reship seed oil, avocado and jojoba oil, and beeswax help to moisturize and revive the lips. Ingredients like lemon peel oil, sweet orange oil, and peppermint oil create an uplifting, minty scent.

Mask and Scrub Duo

I love buying and trying products, but when it comes to a daily skin care regimen I like to keep it simple. Mainly because I am a busy mom and I don’t always have time for myself. You busy mommies out there know exactly what I’m talking about. I mean some days we hardly have time to keep up with our basic hygienic needs. So when I incorporate a new product into my routine I like to make it as quick and easy for myself as possible in order to stay consistent with it. If this is you too, then this mask and scrub duo is what you need!
Kari Gran’s Lip Whip Perfector The Lip Whip Perfector works best when used as a mask, but gives a nice gentle exfoliation when doubled as a scrub. The Perfector has a more gentle exfoliation texture with sugar, so is not as abrasive as other scrubs. I like to use it by massaging it onto the lips for a couple seconds, then leaving it on for 3-5 minutes, then afterwards massaging it again to wipe it off. Chamomile and vitamin E work to soothe, heal and repair the lips. The Perfector is great both for prepping the lips, as well as for removing any lipstick residue. Overall, a great tool to have in your kit.

Moisturize

Kari Gran’s Tinted Lip Whip (Peppermint) This gorgeous balm is glossy, moisturizing, gives the lips a gorgeous pink glow, and has a nice minty tingle. Kari Gran’s Lip Whip is luscious and buttery and goes on oh so smooth! The combination of oils and waxes create an intense hydration and leaves the lips healed and moisturized, instead of just masking the problem temporarily. Try all the different colors for a nice tint for every occasion, but the best part of this balm you’ll find is the moisturizing ingredients!
Ogee’s Sculpted Lip Oil I love the convenience of Ogee’s applicator stick. I can easily throw it in my purse and apply throughout the day whenever needed. The sculpted lip oil glides on smooth and immediately melts onto the lips. Use Ogee’s lip oil as a primer under lipstick or alone as a moisturizer. Peppermint oil leaves lips feeling fresh while naturally plumping the lips. A beautiful combination of cold pressed jojoba, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax work to not only moisturize but coat and protect the lips. Ogee’s lip oils have been recognized by PopSugar, InStyle, Birdie, and their lip colors were awarded Best in Show for 2018 Indie Beauty Expo. Basically… you gotta try them!

Over Night Mask

Handmade Heroe’s All Nighter Lip Mask This is one all nighter where you actually want to be the first one to fall asleep. Because the sooner you fall asleep, the sooner you wake up to healthy, glowing lips! Handmade Heroe’s packs this balm full of rich, vegan butters and oils for moisturizing and conditioning, as well as vitamin E for healing. This balm can also be used as a moisturizer throughout the day, and especially great in the winter months when your lips get dry and chapped.
